#2 NEW AWARENESS in 2025
For the past 10 years, I started the year with a drawing to envision major equilibriums or undertakings of that particular year, and this year, I did not.
I focused instead on what was at stake in the present moment.
I spent the entire month of January re-engaging myself at the service of Digital Bridges 4 Nepal, the foundation I created to “strengthen communities through education”. I also re-engaged myself in a wonderful coaching project accompanying one of the best teams “change agent” that I know, in another of their transitions.
But, what is the creative process I was using in 2024? It is a form of visualization of your year, using your right brain, then your left one. (picture? )
The key in doing this is to let your right brain guide your colored pencils do the job, without overthinking about what you do. Initially setting an intention around “what do I truly want for me and then for the people I love or interact with this year”. Taking a few breaths initially, listening to music may favor its inception. Once done, you can start adding words that made sense to you, while looking at the different circle/shapes/colors that intersect, or not. Thats the left brain rationalizing while observing what you drew. Then you can get a third look, a more “meta” view. Is there any superior intention that you recorded somehow? May be, may be not. Finding the meaning of a particular moment in life, and corroborating it to the potential discovery of what the life you got mean? It's a path of intense joy if you get there, like if you created a new connection.
In my 2024 drawing there is something potent about an eye at the center, eye that I did not draw intentionally. Now as you may know, I have been 24 times to Nepal, and interacting with all kind of buddhist friends. In Buddhism, the concept of the 3rd eye in the middle of your front head. So may be it is about inventing new steps to continue to grow spiritually. May be to find equilibrium, may be to continue to look at life intensely, with curiosity, using the eye of the anthropologist in me. Other stuff revolves around its light.
It may be late in the year, and may be it is still worth doing this, at least as an exercise to prepare your 2026 one.
Ah, as for me, in a way, not doing one this year, may be because, I felt I needed to be in action first, and gave myself an extra month, that I spent mostly in Colombia, the country that I have fully embraced as I start a new decade.
May be the next blog I am also writing while in Colombia will open a glimpse into the added value I would like 2025 to bring for me, the people I love and the ones I interact with (not sure I make a difference between these two groups though).
